As most of you know, we recently had a swimming pool installed in our backyard. It is FINALLY done! We singed the pool contract back in December of 2018, but due to permitting issues with the county we were delayed on construction until May of 2019. Once construction began, the full project took about 2 months. Below are pictures of the process.
Preparation:
We had to tear up the walkway down to the dock. We also relocated the stairs to the side of the house. |
A few days before they began, the came out and installed well points. These pumped all of the ground water out of the yard so they could dig. The pumps ran until the completion of the project! |
DIG DAY:
We were so excited for this day since we had been waiting about 6 months!
The brought an excavator into the backyard, it barely fit through the side! |
The big stuff was dug by machines and then the finishing was done by hand. |
The digging only took about 1 1/2 day! |
Gunite
They started digging out the pool on a Tuesday, by Friday, they were spaying the concrete. (Too bad the whole process didn't go this quick)
They brought in a huge concrete truck and had the whole pool sprayed in less than a day! (Yes, it was as messy as you are thinking) |
Aubrie's 1st time in the pool! |
Flagstone Coping
These guys were hard workers and did any amazing job! It took a couple days and they worked until dark. |
The dust from cutting the stone was crazy, it took a good half day to clean everything up. |
After the flagstone we had to a wait a week or so for them to bring in dirt and finish grading. Then, the next step was pavers. We waited about 2 weeks for the paver guys to come after that as they were really behind.
Pavers
Preparing to lay the pavers |
These guys were also very good at what they did! |
They cut out a few areas so we could make landscape beds |
More and more and more dust! |
Plaster:
We had to lay out where we wanted our tile turtles. They turned out so cute! |
They showed up at 6 am to start plaster and were done before lunch! Look at what they were wearing on their feet. |
Pool Fill Up
When the plaster guys were done, they dropped a hose in the pool to start filling it up. It took about 36 hours. |
Finally the pool was full and the pump was on!
Palm Trees
No Florida pool is complete without a couple palm trees. They had to carry them in with a tractor.
Drew "managed" the installation process
Landscaping
Drew and I did all the landscaping ourselves on a Saturday.
This is one of my favorite things about the pool, the paver cut out we were able to plant in :)
Finished Product!
The shark also got a fresh coat of paint before he was moved to his new location.
And that's it! We are so glad this project is complete and we can start to enjoy it. It turned out better than we could have ever imagined!
